Windsor?s unemployment rate dropped marginally in May but remains the highest in Canada, according to figures released today by Statistics Canada.
The local jobless rate last month was 9.9 per cent, compared to 10.1 per cent in April.
It is now a half-percentage point lower than at this time last year.
Kelowna and Peterborough share second place with an unemployment rate of 9.2 per cent.
The unemployment rate in Abbotsford-Mission, which had been 9.5 per cent in April and was good enough for second place, fell to 7.9 per cent.
Other rates across Ontario include Barrie, 9.1 per cent; Toronto, 8.6; Brantford and London, 8.3; Oshawa, 8.2; St. Catharines-Niagara, 7.7; Sudbury, 7.2; Hamilton and Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo, 6.8; Kingston, 6.2; Ottawa, 6.0; Thunder Bay, 5.7 and Guelph, 5.5.
The lowest rate amiong the 33 centres surveyed by StatsCan was recorded in Regina at 3.9 per cent.
The national jobless rate in May was 7.3 per cent.
