Pet Sitters, Dog Walkers and Heart Disease in Pets: WGN Radio Petcast

From pet sitters and dog walkers, to heart disease in dogs and cats - listen HERE to this WGN Radio Petcast.

Pet sitters ?and dog walkers are great options. But how do you find one? Who do you choose? I talk with Lauren Pietrocarlo of??Dogs Deserve It.

We talk about the various options about what to do with pets for when your're away from work or away out of town. And if you're choosing a dog walker, what if your dog doesn't approve of your choice? Is finding a dog walker or pet sitter that is insured and bonded a good idea? ?Also, Lauren offers warnings about who not to hire.

Also, Christy Drackett, founder of the Big Hearts Fund?which is?dedicated to raising money and awareness for pets diagnosed with heart disease. This is huge -- since far more pets than most think are diagnosed with heart disease at some point in their lives. According to YourDogsHeart.com, about a third of all dogs over 13 have heart disease, chances increase a great deal if the dog is under 20 lbs. I love this idea, it Big Hearts Fund will save lives (they already have).

To explain all the medical stuff, we are also joined by veterinary cardiologist Dr. Andrew Beardow, of Boehringer Ingelheim, who offers an overview of heart disease in dogs.
