EA Mobile?s freemium title, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is available now on Google Play.
The game can now be played by Android users following several months on exclusivity on Apple?s App Store.
Despite initial issues that resulted in the game disappearing from the App Store for an extended period after its launch last year, The Simpsons: Tapped Out has grown in popularity to hit the number one spot in 20 countries around the world, including Australia
Based on the long running television cartoon of the same name, the app has achieved as many as 3.2 million daily active users following its launch.
The game?s availability was initially limited to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, though the introduction of the Google Play versions means that over 1,600 different Android devices will now have access to it.
?Working collaboratively with The Simpsons team is an incredibly fun and creative experience,? EA All Play?s California and Bight Studios group general manager, Aaron Loeb, said.
?It?s particularly exciting for us to bring The Simpsons: Tapped Out to Google Play for the first time and introduce a new audience of Android consumers to one of EA?s most successful and engaging mobile games.?
The game borrows elements from EA?s own The Sims franchise, where the player is put in charge of rebuilding Springfield after Homer accidentally causes a meltdown at the nuclear power plant.
In addition to rebuilding the town, players have to carry out tasks that enable Homer to find his family and friends.
So far The Simpsons: Tapped Out has more than 30 fan-favourite Simpson?s characters, like Cletus, Millhouse and Ned Flanders, and over 45 buildings, such as the Kwik-E-Mart, Springfield Elementary School and Duff Brewery.
The game gets regularly updated with seasonal content, with the most recent one being the Valentine?s Day pack that added new chatacters, buildings, and quests.
