Google Now updated just in time for NCAA March Madness

Today Google Now is in the news more than once. After Google launched their new TV ad spot showcasing the impressive Google Now feature in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, now we?re seeing a back-end update. We have great news for all those Basketball fans around the country. After the sports cards initially only supported a select few pro sports, we can now confirm college teams like NCAA Basketball are available.

Google has slowly improved and update what their Now app offers, and today it appears that you can now add NCAA College Basketball teams to your sports cards. This means you?ll get live updates, score alerts, and end of game stats for your favorite college basketball team. Being in Vegas I?ll be following the Rebels, but I won?t keep my hopes up.

This comes at the perfect time, as the NCAA Basketball race for the top spot is really heating up. The way Illinois beats Indiana sure was exciting, and now you?ll be able to get scores and upset alerts right from Google with ease. This comes just in time for NCAA March Madness, which is set to kick of shortly. This is one of my favorite times of the year, even though I don?t follow the NBA much. Who?s with me?

For now this appears to only be NCAA Basketball teams, and there?s no signs of any women?s teams. Then we also aren?t seeing any smaller division teams, and only the bigger names are available at the moment. As long as we get College Football support by the time next season rolls around, we?ll be happy. This is certainly a good sign. Keep up the good work Google!
